Mothers Day is coming! Sooner than you think. It always seems that way doesn’t it? Well, let me be your social calendar. Guess when –May 10th right after World Fair Trade Day 09. With that said, I suggest when you deeply ponder what to get mom, think Fair Trade. I’m not kidding.
What mother doesn’t like roses? Chocolate? Coffee and/or tea? See, there are 3 right there, not to mention artisan crafts and jewelry. I think your mother would really appreciate a gift that showed her child was a caring person. Not only about her, but that you have a deep social conscious, too. If she doesn’t understand Fair Trade, what better way to have something to talk about.
I know if my mom was still alive, she would have been showered with Fair Trade jewels. She loved her jewelry and would have killed me if I gave her the chocolate. I also know that she would be very proud of how I cared for others when making a career choice, by helping mothers throughout the world make a living to support their families through Fair Trade. Mothers come in all shapes, sizes, colors, nationalities…give your mom a gift that helps another to support herself. That’s the greatest gift of all!
Fair Trade roses are available at a good price. I’m sure in certain regions, you have Fair Trade florists. You can always surf the web for the items you want. Try keeping it local if you can, that way you can make a personal connection to the Fair Trade dealers nearest you.
I think the more we make requests for Fair Trade products in our area, the more we will be able to make a change that will matter. Its true with any market, they respond to constant and repeated requests for items if there is enough demand. These are just some simple little ways to support Fair Trade.
I hope my suggestion and reminder about Mothers Day helps you out. I also hope that your mother has a wonderful day. With that said, I will leave you with this: The more we share, shows the more we care, so let’s Make Trade Fair!
